Experimental Processes- HDR

HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography has always interested me and is something that i like to play about with from time to time. You can use HDR in a number of ways. The first is using Brackets on a DSLR. This takes your photo 3 times, 1 in an over exposed image, 1 under exposed and one with the correct exposure. When put together in photoshop you can play about with the images and get some great contrasts and colours. Another way is through photoshop on a single exposure image. In a sense, this is fake HDR as it is just manipulating an image to give the HDR effect. This plays about with contrasts into shot, with different elements like fill light and and saturations in the image. You can still get really nice shots like this. Myself, i like to think of as not so much of a photographer, but more of an editor. I like to take snaps, only thinking about the lighting and exposure of a shot, giving me a broad spectrum of light to play with in photoshop in post production. This process is very experimental as it can almost make a photo look fake at times, which can look really good, and at othertimes i can really make an image stand out of the page. This photo below is taken at southsea beaches, i used a longer exposure and played about with the image in photoshop to give a slight HDR effect.
